Sound Healing
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a full body immersive and meditative experience where you can lie down and listen to resonant sounds. The sounds are usually made from special instruments such as crystal singing bowls, gongs or meditation flow chimes. Sound bathing is an ancient practice and is designed to bring on a deep state of relaxation through the sounds and vibrations of the various instruments.
Each instrument offers a unique healing frequency that can not only aid in quietening the chaotic mind but can help heal the physical body too. The deep state of relaxation can reduce stress levels which in turn can lower blood pressure, slow heart rate, calm the nervous system and invite the body to heal and restore itself. It is also a powerful tool for anxiety relief, improving sleep quality, to bring about emotional release and enhance focus and mental clarity.
Here's the science bit!
Albert Einstein once said 'everything is energy!' This idea is often used to explain that everything in the universe, including ourselves, vibrates at a certain frequency. Take a tuning fork for example. Musicians will use a tuning fork to tune up a guitar to the exact frequency of the tuning fork. The same principal applies at a sound bath, except the singing bowls are the tuning fork and you are the guitar! The instruments at a sound bath help to 'tune' our bodies natural frequency to a healing one. 432hz is the most common healing frequency and most of the instruments at our sound baths are tuned to this.
What to expect at our sound bath
You will need to bring your own yoga mat, blankets, cushions and anything else you need to get comfy and cosy as your body temperature will naturally drop when lying still. We will then begin with an energy smoke cleanse using home grown lavender and sage. A short guided meditation with breathwork will follow to help ground you and help you settle into the space and relieve tension in the body.
You will then be bathed in the sounds and vibrations from the different instruments. I will even walk around the room with different instruments so you can experience some of the sounds close up. The main focus for you is to listen to the sounds and allow them to wash over your body and mind. You may experience feelings of deep relaxation, peace, joy and even physical sensations such as tingling, or even emotional release.
After the sound bath
You will gently be brought back to a state of awareness. You can stretch and sit up when you are ready. Hydrating is important afterwards to help flush any released toxins that may have been dislodged during the vibrations. You will hopefully feel a sense of calm, peace and relaxation which may continue after the session.
